STE(A)M CLUB

Last week session on STE(A)M club, students were building marble run out of paper and sellotape.

The aim was to see which run would give the slowest decent for the marble without stopping.

They designed it first and then built in teams of 4-6.

There was some very creative designs thought out by students.

An important factor STE(A)M encourages is teamwork, witch they showed during this task

This week, students participated from the first session of Green Plan It, where they went to a trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens  for the launch of the project!

Successful session of STEM club on 12th of September as the members were tasked with designing and building a raft with a budget.

Congratulations to Ajwad and Tom for managing to hold 300g on top of their raft as well as Kenneth and Chris for winning the award for most interesting design!

Well done to everyone for their designs!

This week in STE(A)M club we are starting with the 'Green Plan It challenge', where students will design in detail their own gardens to then compete against other local schools and present their designs a at a celebration event.

We are really looking foward to see what the students of the STE(A)M club will come up to!

STE(A)M CLUB

The Science of Bubbles

Last week on the first session of STE(A)M club we had a great time experimenting with bubbles and looking at the science behind it.

We were happy to see a great amount of students interested in the club, with 16 students from S1 and S2 attending to this first session.

The task was to make shapes with bubbles using 3D structures designed by the students. At first we tried with toothpicks and bluetack, however that had little success; so we decided to try with pipe cleaners, which was much successful to create incredible squared and triangular shaped bubbles.

Today, on the second session of STE(A)M club we are making rafts!

Note: We are still in the midst of incorperating Art into STEM club (Which would make it STEAM) If this proves successful then you can expect even more activites in the future!!!
